Catching Up: How I Let Almost 5 Months Slip By Without Any Posts

I think it's safe to say I'm not meant to be a professional blogger.  In any event, I know we have family from up North that reads this to see what we've been up to, so I'll post every now and then with a recap of whatever time has gone by.

My last post was from back in June when we went to see the new Simpsons area at Universal.  I'll start my recap from May, since I left that out of my last recap.  While we've been busy, a lot of what we've been up to has been pretty mundane stuff - hanging out with friends, visiting family, etc.

Enjoying the Florida Lifestyle.

We didn't do anything that exciting for Memorial Day weekend, but I have pictures, so I might as well share them!

Saturday was a pretty quiet day...and by quiet, I mean lazy.  Of course, we now live in Florida so even lazy days can be capped off by a pretty nice evening.  We decided to head to one of my new favorite places: Squid Lips.  Squid Lips is a seafood restaurant located right on the river next to the Eau Gallie causeway.  It's casual and everything you would expect a Florida seafood restaurant to be.

We were seated outside, but still under a covered deck.  Between the breeze coming off the water and the ceiling fans, you couldn't tell that it was pretty warm out!  Of course, I couldn't help but order a fancy fruity drink:
We both had Mahi, which was as fresh and tasty as you could imagine at a place like this!  Because we were seated outside, we could also hear the band playing over by the bar.  It was the kind of thing that reminded you why you moved to Florida.

How about an update?

Last I posted, we were just getting into May, now we're almost done!  Sorry about that.

Since then, we've been keeping busy.  Bandit had his first taste of steak...which might have been a mistake.  Now whenever we're cooking he's lingering around "hey, you got steak there?"  He's gotten better, but only because I think he realized that everything we cook isn't steak!
Steak? I like steak.

Saturday the 12th we headed over to one of Geoff's coworker's houses as they were having a party since his coworker had graduated from Grad school.  It's really nice to know we're making some friends.  They're all really great people!

That Sunday, it was Mother's Day.  It was the first Mother's Day in years that I actually got to spend with my Mom!  My Mom, Dad, and brother came over and I made lunch.  We then took a trip over to the neighborhood that we're building our house at and showed everyone the lot.  Unfortunately, the model wasn't open, so we weren't able to show them any of the options we picked.  Soon enough though, they'll be able to visit our new home!

We also received an offer on our house in Rochester the following day.  Unfortunately, the buyer couldn't get financed, so that fell through.  ...anyone interested in a townhome in Rochester?  Anyone?  Fingers crossed that it will sell soon.

First Weekend in Melbourne

What a weekend!  It's been a great weekend for our first official weekend in Melbourne.

Friday night we met up with a few of Geoff's coworkers and their wives for dinner in downtown Melbourne.  Turns out it was the second Friday of the month, which means that Friday Fest was going on.  The street was blocked off and there were vendors, live music, and other activities going on.  The best part? We weren't freezing!  We had a great time and at the risk of sounding cheesy, we made some friends too!
